JPG, PNG & GIF

Hey everyone.

Just to let you know we’ve added support to PNG and GIF.
If you can’t heart PNG and GIF yet you can clean your browser cache to renew the bookmarklet.

We were holding it to release together with the new version of weheartit that is almost finished, but since many people were asking for it we decided to implement right away.

Have fun!

obs: PNG and GIF images will be converted do JPGs

Major background updates

A few weeks ago we’ve announced weheartit is growing really fast and we’re really happy about it.

So this past month we’ve done a lot of structural changes on the site, to accomodate this new users and keep the service good and open for everyone.

I’m talking about database and technical stuff. We’re doing this so the site can run faster and we don’t need to have a fail whale swimming around us.

These are background changes, our users may not even notice them, but you can trust us when we say this is really important.

So now we can begin a new phase, with new features we think you’ll love. But we are going to talk about them on another post.  :)

Thanks for the love

I’d like to thank all bloggers who have blogged about WeHeartIt so far, and Twitter users who are constantly sharing their love though twitter.

And a special thanks to Makoto Yamaguchi (Japan), John Manoogian III (United States) and Masha du Toit (South Africa) for donating money to weheartit. This gesture means a lot, more than the money itselt. Thanks for supporting the site.

Want to help?

Up until now we haven’t payed the necessary attention to Internet Explorer. Unfortunatelly IE doesn’t support bookmarklets quite the way other browsers do, so you can’t add the “i heart it” button to the browser window (like you can do on firefox or safari) and use it on any site…

But we want to bring this experience to everyone regardless of the browser they use, so we’re looking for someone that can create a bookmarklet or plugin for Internet Explorer. If you have the skills needed and want to help, please let us know, leave a comment on this post.

v_vitoria is the user number 10.000! So cool that she’s from Brazil, just like us.

Thanks everyone! Weheartit is more than just a website, it’s a great community sharing amazing images and videos, and that’s all because of you!

Hello World!

What’s happened untill now:

Weheartit.com launched oficially on may 2008, made by Fabio Giolito. It grew really fast, there were over a thousand users after the first month and it kept growing.

After some months there were some problems with the server, the site was demanding too much from it. So Surpass Hosting showed up with an awesome dedicated server.

Weheartit joined a really cool web startup called Kinda Connected. It’s located in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil in front of the world famous Copacabana Beach.

Everton Fraga is now part of the team! He’s already done an amazing job speeding up weheartit, did you notice? It’s faster than ever!

And there’s more to come on the next few days!
